Fitness and health update

spinningBeen spinning like a top for the past four weeks and I'm regularly making four sessions a week if not the five.

I've started adding in some weight resistance training before the spinning sessions to start building some muscle, or at least hold on to it! At my age I think it's more a case of holding on to it rather than fantasizing about becoming the next bodybuilding olympian!

The biggest change has been in my diet and it's yielding fantastic results. 70% diet 30% training. That's what they say.

The problem in the past has always been that I'll continue with bad eating (and drinking) habits whilst expecting miracles to happen in the gym. I've turned that around now and I've devised a good nutrition plan that I'm happy with and can have the odd cheat meal if I want it.

Consistently dropping two pound a week now so it's made all the difference. A sixpack is made in the kitchen, muscle is made in the gym. I'm a firm believer.

Been watching the tour de france lately and so it was that I came across the http://www.livestrong.com website which is absolutely fantastic! You just key in the meals and it tells you the calories you are consuming. If you wonder why you are getting fat a couple of weeks doing a daily diary here (and being honest!) will sort you out.

Almost touching 15 stone for a total weight loss of around 20lb since the start of the year or the "lightbulb" moment. It's eating properly that counts, not the amount of exercise.
